Reputation: Known as a top program in CA, but probably not the best. Somewhat malignant reputation.

Pros: Good all around program with strong reputation. Happy residents who work hard. Well balanced. Strong in Spine and Sports. Well known attendings include Hu (Spine), Safran (Sports), Reis (Joints),  Bozic (Joints).

Cons: Somewhat malignant program. Weak in foot/ankle. Pediatric rotation at Shriners in Sacramento. Residents can be overworked. Great location but it is terribly expensive to live and play in the city by the bay. 

Final Word: Strong program with a strong UCSF brand, but not the best program in CA. Competitive because of name recognition. Awesome place to live. Expensive.

Rotation Information: Like any top big name program, lots of rotators during high season months. Does not benefit to rotate if you are weak on paper.
