Reputation: Solid university program with research emphasis that requires an extra year.

Pros: Academic program with good coverage of all specialties. Strength in Spine and Joints. San Diego and La Jolla in particular is a sweet place. Tough to beat Southern CA weather and lifestyle.

Cons: An extra research year is a tough pill to swallow for some.

Final Word: Solid program in cushy area. One of the better California programs, but requires giving up one year of earning potential.

Rotation Information: Known to close rotations after September. UCSD is notorious for weeding out applicants by requiring the MCAT transcript as part of their supplemental application.
