Chairman: William Maloney
PD: Timothy McAdams
Location:
Spots: 4
Reputation: Known as one of the weaker programs in CA, largely overshadowed by UCSF and UC Davis in Northern California. Limited operative experience with home call after intern year. Program has been on probation for not having a Chairman and had trouble retaining Chairmen in the past with high faculty turnover.
Pros: Reasonable mix of exposure to univeristy and community Orthopaedics with rotations at a VA hospital, community hospital, and university. Multiple attendings in several specialties with an abundance of expertise in Hand & Upper Extremity and Sports. Program takes much of its reputation from the larger Stanford brand.
Final Word: Weaker program in a great location in Northern CA.

Rotation Information: Like most big name schools, lots of rotators during high season. Not known to favor rotators who are weak on paper. Rotation site matters as exposure to PD is limited at some sites.
Interview Dates: 2007 - 1/15 & 1/6
If you are a student, resident, attending or have recently rotated, please feel free to post any information, additions, changes, or comments.
