Chairman & PD: William McGann
Location: San Francisco, CA
Spots: 3
Reputation: Small cushy community program with less than stellar Ortho reputation in a great location.
Pros: Variation in rotations with time split between St. Mary's, Kaiser Oakland, and Highland Hospital. Lots of autonomy given, residents learn by experience, not didactics. Very cushy call schedule with home call all 5 years. Very laid-back residents. San Francisco is one of the best cities in the US.
Cons: Financially unstable program on temporary probation as of 1/06. Little didactics, no research. Extremely high cost of living.
Final Word: Weaker community program in a fabulous city on the West coast. For those who want a laid back residency that will make them more than competent community practitioners. Not for the resume-building big name school type of person.

Rotation Information: Heavily favors rotators and not all rotators were offered interviews, but new administrative staff are in place. Take your chances accordingly.
