Reputation: Small community program with high operative volume in ritzy part of Manhattan.

Pros: Early operative experience and autonomy with high volume. Not all cases covered due to high operative volume therefore residents get to select cases. Additional rotations done at Shock Trauma, Boston Children's, and Sloan-Kettering. Most graduates go on for fellowship of choice. Strong in Sports Medicine with fellowship that covers NY Jets. Ranawat is a joint attending there.

Cons: Weak in trauma. Not a Level I center. Single attending in some specialties. Weak academics. NYC is expensive. 

Final Word: Busy operative community program with little trauma in a great city.
