Chairman: Peter Gearen
PD: Robert Vander Griend
Location:
Spots: 3
Reputation: Solid somewhat cushy university program in a small community. Known for Enneking and ex-chairman Petty. Debatable whether it is top program in Florida.
Pros: Strong in joints and residents get excellent tumor experience. Most specialties covered. Famous attendings are numerous. Strong academics. Famous attendings include Enneking (Oncology). Well sponsored program - retired Chairman Petty started Exactech, which is a successful up and coming Ortho implant company based in Gainesville. Gainesville is an affordable college town.
Final Word: Solid under-rated university program with community feel. For sports fans, you would be in Gator country.

Rotation Information: Favors rotators. Most residents are from the South.
Interview Dates:
If you are a student, resident, attending or have recently rotated, please feel free to post any information, additions, changes, or comments.
Has a reputation as a numbers program Good program, great place to live, college town.
Focus is on 3rd year clinical scores more than many other programs (not a secret, this is explained to those that interview and rotate)

great program. scarborough is awesome. residents are cool. operative experience is ample (not crazy, but above average). town is nice, safe, and affordable.
only question is how the trauma fellowship is going to affect the already less-than-high trauma experience for the residents.
